Autumn Term 2 2025

This autumn term has been a successful one for New Beginnings – Access to Education. We have welcomed new students and staff into our community, and it has been wonderful to see everyone settling in so well. We have maintained a positive atmosphere and steady progress which has made this a really encouraging start to the academic year.

We would like to offer a huge congratulations to our students MC, ZH, JF, TB and ES for the fantastic effort they have put into their ELC Maths papers this term. Each of them has shown real determination, commitment, and resilience as they’ve tackled these examinations. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the progress they continue to make.

This term, our students have also taken part in some festive activities. They have been creating Christmas paper chains, incorporating elements of practical engineering as students worked on structure, precision, and pattern design. Alongside this, students have enjoyed making Rice Krispie Christmas pudding treats, applying teamwork and following methodical steps to produce their finished creations. These activities have provided a relaxed but purposeful way to round off a busy and productive term.

As we look ahead to the new year, we are preparing our KS4 students for their upcoming exams while continuing to support their personal growth, wellbeing, and readiness for the next steps in their education. It is a privilege to help them develop not only academically but as confident, kind and capable young people.

Finally, everyone at New Beginnings would like to wish all our students and their families a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful, enjoyable holiday period. We hope you have a well-deserved break, and we look forward to seeing you refreshed and ready for the new year!

Autumn Term 1 2025

The new academic year at New Beginnings - Access to Education is now well underway, and we are delighted with the positive start our students have made. All students began the term by completing their English and Maths baseline assessments—a challenging task to launch the year, but one they approached with determination and focus.

With the assessments behind them, our students also put their practical life skills into action by assembling IKEA drawers for the Hub—a project that combined teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Our students have now settled into their routines, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they embrace the opportunities of a fresh start.

We would also like to extend our congratulations to several of our students who achieved fantastic results last year while still in Year 9 and 10. LE, MH, JM, and KJ all successfully passed their Entry Level 3 Maths and Step Up to English qualifications. In addition, LB, LE, and MH went one step further by earning their Functional Skills Level 1 Maths qualification, with LE and MH also achieving Functional Skills Level 1 English. These are outstanding accomplishments, and we are incredibly proud! Well done to you all!

As we look ahead, we are excited for all that this new academic year will bring. With both new staff and new students joining us, our community continues to grow stronger. Together, we look forward to building on past successes, embracing new opportunities, and supporting every student ‘to be the best they can be’.

Summer Term 2025

Here at New Beginnings: Access to Education, our students continue to demonstrate exceptional dedication, resilience, and hard work.

There has been much to celebrate this year. We’ve seen students who once believed they wouldn’t achieve any qualifications go on to complete their exams with confidence. Before Easter, many of our students successfully completed the Step Up to English qualification. While we’re still awaiting official results, we’re confident they’ve done brilliantly. Even more inspiring has been their ability to overcome deep-rooted anxiety around the spoken language elements of their English assessments—absolutely smashing those challenges with determination and pride.

Beyond qualifications, the true highlight of this year has been watching our students flourish personally - developing resilience, patience, compassion, and a growing sense of self-belief. These are the milestones that mean the most to our teachers and parents: the building blocks of future success as active, engaged members of the community.

The summer term has been a challenging, yet rewarding time, filled with hard work and memorable events across the New Beginnings community.

In May, a well-deserved reward trip took a group of our teachers and students to Wallings Ice Cream Parlour—a much-loved tradition at New Beginnings. Each year, we treat our hardworking students and teachers to ice creams as big as their heads!  We're happy to report that no ice cream was dropped, and everyone left with full tummies and sugar-fuelled smiles.

To our Year 11 students—many of whom have been with us for much of their secondary journey—we offer our heartfelt congratulations. You’ve shown incredible determination and maturity. We could not be prouder of how far you’ve come and the outstanding young men you’ve become. We wish you every success and happiness in the future. Keep believing in yourselves and all you are capable of achieving!

We’re immensely proud of all our students’ accomplishments this academic year and hope they enjoy a well-earned summer break, ready to return for another fantastic year ahead.
